The second edition of Feast magazine is now available to purchase

The second edition of FEAST takes the theme of
digestion. Investigating the digestive system as a complex process of
transformations from its inputs to its outputs, the edition explores the digestive
sounds of the body, poses questions as to what we choose or do not choose to
ingest and discusses the notion of embodied knowledge. The digestive tract weaves its way through diverse
contributions by Megan Fizell on the work of Win Delvove, Lucy Johnston’s
discussion of the Surrealist recipes and dining events, as well as Swen
Steinhauser’s story of Marcus Braun, a childhood classmate that swallowed a
pin. The chamber of the stomach becomes the prime loci for another set of
articles. Peter Harrison conjures the voice of the digesting body in a text on
the siege of Lenningrad, whilst Daniel Fogarty sends back its echo in a text
contemplating the life of the digesting body. Finally, in Elisa Oliver’s compilation of all references to
food in Iris Murdoch’s novel The Sea The
Sea, the relationship of hunger, food, digestion and memory raises the
process of digestion to a power akin to that of contemplation. The edition
further features new drawings by Edwina Ashton and Daniel Fogarty.
